Floral designers share their experience!
We like to keep it fresh at Pearsons Florist, not only our flowers but our designers too! This week we are profiling Jacqui from Pearsons Bondi Junction Westfield store who has spent the last few days learning and sharing new ideas, techniques and experiences in the Pearsons Design Centre in Stanmore.
We have found that moving designers from store to store promotes creativity and sharing of ideas. It lets our staff learn from each other, getting to know different clients and different styles of design. "It is amazing how different it can be working in the city to working in a suburban store"
Jacqui has been working for the last 18 months at our Bondi store and is a passionate flower enthusiast. Her favourite flowers at the moment are beautiful big headed flowers like hydrangea and disbuds. But, like all florists her favourite flowers change according to the season.
Jacqui is pictured here creating a beautiful 'Cheerful' design from the Pearsons flower range.

Wedding flowers from Pearsons Florist
Wow what a stunning bride and such amazing flowers. If you would like to see more visit us.
This look is just so perfect right now, with gorgeous little vases and a stunningly bright mix of blooms divided between them. The brides favourite colours were vivid oranges and yellows and these were offset perfectly by the fresh green flowers and foliage.
The bride looked stunning in her classic gown and her bouquet was simply amazing.
For the walk down the aisle the bride chose to have the beautiful venue decorated with large arrangements.

Go green, go organic for St Patrick's Day
Grorgeous greens are the perfect decorations for St Patrick's Day so to keep it fresh and modern we've been organically inspired in our designs for the Fairfield RSL Club this week. Using lush maiden hair ferns and pretty little orchid plants we've created a wonderfully verdant installation for their foyer.
In other parts of the club we've used pieces of driftwood and stunning phalaenopsis orchids.
In the Tratt restaurant we've kept with the green theme with beautiful trailing ameranthus and white and green flowers.

Fairfield RSL Club Flowers
Pearsons Florist are proud to be the new floral designers for the Fairfield RSL Club. Located in Sydney's south west, the Club has recently undergone a major refurbishment in a chic designer style. In keeping with the warm earthy tones of the Club's new look they need fabulous florals in every venue, and of course they came to us.For the foyer we have created wonderful installation pieces using vases in various heights to create drama and movement. In our first week we featured a pallette of pink and burgundy lilies and orchids.
This week our designers were inspired to use giant palm leaves with hot pink orchids and hanging heliconia.

New day, new design from Pearsons Florist
Today we added a new design to the Pearsons web site. A fabulous creation from one of our most senior designers. Jo started working with Pearsons over 20 years ago as a junior florist and has honed her craft in shops and our Pearsons design centre. She is one of our most accomplished florists and creates many of the most popular designs on our website. Her beautiful Country Harvest style bouquet featured on the cover of Pearsons 2012 calendar.
Jo has chosen to create this fabulous centre piece for our Designer's Choice range on the Pearsons web. We've called it Bold and Beautiful because of her bold use of amazing colours and flowers including bright glossy anthuriums, orchids, gloriosa lilys and fantastic stripey foliage.

European Inspiration
It's fabulous when we have guest designers working with us. Not only do they inspire us with the latest trends and styles from overseas but they also inspire us with a new appreciation of our own local materials. German floral designer, Maike from Hamburg, recently spent a few weeks visiting our shops and workrooms.
Maike's fabulous style incorporated plenty of natural materials including barks, foliages, leaves and twigs to add an organic twist to every design. her style of wrapping was quite gorgeous too - surrounding the flowers and foliage like a precious bundle. She loved our native foliages especially the eucalypt leaves and gumnuts and valued them in the bouquet as much as any bloom.
Maike is pictured below left with her design Wunderbar (German for wonderful). Marcel and Sam from our Stanmore design centre loved it too! (Pictured below right).

How to design the perfect wedding flowers?
Mel and Mark’s Wedding 28/1/12
Every bride wants their wedding day to be perfect, and it is the little things that make it so. For me as a florist and wedding consultant, it means picking up on the little things and drawing these into the wedding flowers. When you think about it, flowers can tie all the elements of the wedding together – from the gowns to the table decorations to the ceremony.
Graphic designer Mel’s theme for her wedding to Mark was Vintage Glamour. Elegant with a modern twist. When we first met to discuss the wedding flowers, all Mel knew was she loved roses. So with that we talked through different ideas and the other elements from her wedding. Her gown was a gorgeous Grecian style with a cluster of Silver beading on the bodice. Very ethereal! From this we decided on her theme for the flowers: cream roses and silver berries to pick up on the silver beading on her gown, all adorned with a gorgeous silver and pearl brooches that Mel found on-line.
As the day approached we spoke to finalise the flowers. You know when a bride trusts you to make their wedding flowers perfect when they say “Just Surprise Me!” So we did.

Phalaenopsis Orchids
For most of the year we stock these stunning orchids as a living plant. Each flower is like a delicate butterfly poised for flight. Surprisingly they last very well, even in the warmer weather.
This morning our grower sent us some lovely cut stems of phalaenopsis orchids in a deep pinky purple - so beautiful! Our designers have created some gorgeous gifts using these blushing beauties:
Butterfly Kiss - Cleverly displayed in a white ceramic pot with pretty leaves and twigs. Read more....
Delicate Elegance - Simply delivered in the Pearsons striped long box with a great little vase and lovely foliage, they are a gift for the most discerning flower buyer. Read more....

Welcome the Dragon
In Sydney we love to take our inspiration from the many and varied celebrations that are enjoyed by all. Next Monday 23rd January we celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome the dragon, the most powerful symbol of the Chinese Zodiac.
Our designers love the chance to combine "East meets West" floral styling to create gorgeous arrangements using lovely lush colours and textural elemements of bamboo, leaves and twigs. Visiting one of the great Asian supermarkets in Chinatown, we found bright red and gold lanterns and knew we had to incorporate them into a floral arrangement. With bamboo we built the structure and then we combined deep red roses, glossy anthuriums and gold orchids in a round glass vase. And 'voila' we have created "Luck & Prosperity".
